Meet the invited speakers

With over 25 years of experience in supporting families through some of their most challenging moments, Susan has dedicated her life to advocating, healing, and education. For the past nine years, she served as a passionate Donor Legacy Advocate for Donor Network of Arizona, where she’s helped families navigate organ donation with compassion, dignity, and care. Prior to this role, she spent 17 years working in social work, specializing in assisting families whose children faced mental health and behavioral health challenges.

Her commitment to this work stems from a deep belief in the power of healing and human connection. She takes great pride in helping families find comfort, hope, and a little light into a dark room. She’s equally passionate about teaching others how to offer that same light in mentoring new advocates.

Robert Lucas is a nationally recognized leader in organ procurement with over 20 years of experience improving donation outcomes. As CEO of Transplant Consultants, he led initiatives in training and staffing, enhancing efficiency and authorization rates nationwide. Robert started at Sierra Donor Services, and advanced into leadership roles at Donor Network West. He brings expertise to the field with his experienced insight, compassionate approach, and commitment to multicultural communication. In June of 2025, he will join DonorConnect as their Director of Family Services.

Robert is also the author of the forthcoming book, "From Heartbreak to Hope: Requestors on the Front Lines of Organ Donation", scheduled for publication in July of 2025.
